In 2021, it was decided to expand in Athens, Greece with a new independent branch focused on futsal, and to participate in the Hellenic National Second Division. Futsal is currently one of the fastest developing sports in Greece with a growing appetite from teams and players to participate.

For its first year of operation, Athenians FC decided to cooperate with another team, Taraxi Metamorfosis, in order to gain more experience and be able to develop fully its brand from 2022 together with academies for younger generations. This solution was chosen due to the limited time left to prepare paperwork. Athenians FC Futsal is now dedicated to give its best to compete and get promoted to the higher leagues.

Our official games take place every weekend around Greece. Our home pitch is currently in northern Athens (Metamorfosi) and trips will involved travelling to inland Greece but also a couple of islands during the year. The official seasons started in October 3, 2021 until around May 2022.

The team will try to broadcast its games through its Youtube channel throughout the year but it is very possible that a couple of games will be broadcast nationwide through the official distributor, Instat TV.

Trainings are held every Tuesday. Sessions include technical development, fitness, drills and/or futsal internal games and are run by a well-known national coach and ex-futsal player, Grigoris Gkougkoulitsas.
